Loki is not a tremendous fan of texting. He might actually send a raven if he could, but the irony that he cannot is particularly meaningful right now.

Voice is not an option. He doesn't want Thor to hear the emotional notes he is certain he will not be able to hide. Therefore, text it is:

you remember how we thought my alternate might find a third option
rather than the two deaths presented him?
well, he has returned.
he is in no condition to be questioned regarding what happened
but he is alive and he is here.

Thor reads the message three times before it truly sinks in, and he's quick to send a reply once he figures out how.

Is he fit for visitors? May I see him?

Cricket's naming skills leave something to be desired, in Loki's opinion, but that's all right in this case.

Loki's alive, but he's a bird? A possibly-amnesiac bird?

It's too bad he's also unfit for questions, because Thor has a lot of them. But they can wait. Loki's recovery is far more important than sating their curiosity, and simply seeing him for himself may do them both some good.

Hey, pal,

I wanted to give you a heads-up about this thing I'm doing, but I don't want to cut into your time because I know you have plenty to worry about. I set up a safehouse in the Nexus. At the risk of sounding cutesy, it's mostly for underage costumed heroes. Have you met Spider-Man yet? There are a few around like him and the ones I've met all sound like they're hiding it from their parents as well as everyone else around them so I decided some kind of resource would be worthwhile.

I'm still working on finishing the basement. If you have any idea who I could go to for help fixing up a magic-resistant panic room that'd be amazing, but either way, you're welcome to visit any time.

I should have let you know about it sooner, I guess. Just knowing you've got a ship of people to look after, I figured you didn't need another project, but I'm also being told my communication skills outside of war zones are lacking, so apologies for that. Come see me when you get a free moment and I'll make you pancakes.

Loki has just managed to learn how to use the device, and learnt texting. It's not terribly difficult. And the first thing he does, is text this other Thor a short message:

Thor looks at the message in puzzlement, uncertain at first who it's from, and then uncertain just how serious of a request this is. It could be anything from a matter of life and death, to something as mundane as needing him to open a jar of some kind, at least if his previous experience has anything to say about it.

Better to answer without committing, perhaps.

It's me, Loki, the one you've met when you arrived with the crowd. Sorry for forgetting to say.

Worry not, it's not urgent. I just would like you to teach me how to swordfight. When you're not busy.

Saying that it's Loki doesn't actually narrow it down all that much, but the actual request does. At least, Thor would hope that the older Loki would already know how to comport himself in combat, considering he's done it countless times now.

Still, at his age, it's a little surprising to Thor that Loki's tutors wouldn't have included at least daggerwork yet.

I'm flattered. Trying to learn from the most experienced warrior you know?

He might be teasing.
