"To excess?" she counters. "A home may smell of ale if there's open drinks at a table, but unless you added ale to your coffee, there's none in front of us right now." Amelia's certain she would have noticed the smell if that were true, but at least by being honest about what she brought with her, she can attempt to push more understanding onto Thor. She knew this was a problem before she arrived, so she avoided bringing anything that could make it worse.
