There is still so much they need to discuss, from personal hopes and dreams to legal duties and cultural understandings, before any official steps are made. But Thor had never hoped to hear such words from her, shielding his heart in the wake of Jane's refusal, to protect it from such disappointments again. Hearing Amelia declare this now, there is a lightness in his heart, a fledgling hope for a future he'd once imagined for himself.

That she would even consider pledging herself to him, to found a family... it almost seems too good to be true.

"You belong where you wish to belong," he tells her, touching his forehead to hers. "I will try to be worthy of you, now and always. You have my heart, no matter what comes." He seals the declaration with a soft kiss, and even once he pulls back, he keeps her in his arms.

"My mother was not from Asgard either," he tells her with a small smile, offering a lifeline to ease away from these intense feelings, this vulnerability they share together, building something stronger of it. "She was Vanir by birth, and there were those who did not approve of her becoming queen consort. Mostly stuffy old advisors too concerned with old prejudices. She proved herself through word and deed, and none today doubt her love for Asgard and our people."
