pirateangelbaby: (Depression - listening)

You wouldn't have, Thor wants to say, because Loki had been there and he hadn't stopped her. Had called for the Bifrost immediately, in fact, and in his flight he'd opened the way for Hela to invade Asgard and bring about its end. Yet at the same time, what death would she have unleashed upon Earth, had she not followed? Would Thor and Loki both have been slaughtered as easily as she'd killed the Einherjar, or the Warriors Three? What's done is done, and it cannot be changed. If Loki wants to believe he could have made a difference, if he thinks this is a comfort to Thor, then who is he to dissuade him from offering it?

He just smiles sadly and takes a drink from his glass. "Mjolnir was a good hammer. Stormbreaker's a good axe too, though. I forged it myself to kill... well, him." He drops his hand again and flexes those fingers as if curling them around an imaginary axe haft, and though the memory of separating the Mad Titan's head from his shoulders should be a satisfying one, it isn't. "Anyway," he says abruptly, forcing his attention back to his brother, before he can spiral too far down that path, "what do you think about the house? It's a little small with the children staying here, but I like it."
